The Georgia City-County Management Association was selected as the host for the Alliance for Innovation’s Annual Convention: Cool Communities: Transforming Local Government (TLG) Conference in 2013. The Conference will be held at the Marriott Marquis Atlanta.
This is an exciting opportunity for us. This is a national conference, with nationally known speakers, held right here in our home state. The Alliance plans to offer discounted registration rates for managers who bring members of their staff with them. We’d like to see 250 attendees from Georgia. While you are planning your budget for next year, please remember to budget for this special event for yourself and for your staff. This event will replace the annual GCCMA Spring Conference and we will have an opportunity to hold our business meeting during the TLG Conference.
Sessions will focus on the following topics:
• Economic Vitality – local government programs and services that have been designed to contribute to the economic sustainability of our communities.
• Organizational Design – programs that focus on organizational transformation such as culture changes, technology advancement, employee engagement and human resource innovation to meet today’s challenges.
• Community Building – creating the forum and places to involve citizens in community building.
• Partnerships – collaborative efforts that require partnering to deliver services in new ways.
The Alliance is hoping to showcase Georgia cities and counties in some of their presentations. If your local government has programs that you think are worthy of highlighting, please let The Alliance know of your interest. www.tlgconference.org/2013CaseStudy
Of course, GCCMA has much work to do in the coming few months to raise funds and plan for the conference. If you are interested in serving one of the planning committees, please let Janice Eidson know at firstname.lastname@example.org
. Also, if you do business with companies that might be interested in exhibiting during this conference, or helping us with sponsorship funds, please supply them with this sponsorship and exhibit information
. The conference attendance will be approximately 500 local government managers.
The Alliance for Innovation also has a variety of webinars on their calendar for the next couple of months. Please refer to www.transformgov.org/en/calendar
