GCCMA & ACCMA meet in Columbus

More than 100 city and county managers from Georgia and Alabama attended the 2009 Fall GCCMA/ACCMA Conference in Columbus, Georgia.  This was the first joint Georgia/Alabama conference ever to be held.  The conference began with a presentation entitled “Leadership in Turbulent Times” presented by David Rabiner from Portland Oregan. Other sessions included presentations on evaluating staff and succession planning, the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter to market your city and keep your citizens informed and on how the 2010 Census will affect your community. Other highlights included a reception hosted by the city of Phoenix City, Alabama and optional tours to the KIA plant in West Point and the new Infantry Museum in Columbus.
 
GCCMA President Lee Gilmour, City Manager of Perry, Georgia, addressed the conference attendees.
Georgia Municipal Association Deputy Director Paul Radford gave a legislative report.
Dr. David Rabiner presented a session titled "Leadership in Turbulent Times."
